Steve Edwards retired from CoxHealth after 30 years of service, where he held a multitude of leadership roles, culminating in his decade-long tenure as President and CEO of the $2 Billion Missouri-based health system.
While President at CoxHealth, Steve shepherded the health system through a period of significant growth and transformation. A few milestones include growing employee base from 7,500 to 13,000, acquisition and construction of multiple hospitals and clinics, improving the financial health of the organization, swinging market share by 9 points, creating multiple insurance companies, and recognized as a best employer by Forbes Magazine and Modern Healthcare.
Steve has received many recognitions includingDrury University Distinguished Alumni,Missouri Hospital Association Visionary Leader Award,417’s Person of the Year,Community Foundation of the Ozarks Humanitarian of the Year, TheMissourian Award-recognizing accomplished citizens of Missouri, and the Springfield Public Schools Hall of Fame.
Stevecompleted a post graduate fellowship atBaylor University Medical Center, holds a MHA from the Washington University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Drury University.
In his retirement Steve has started two companies, Imagine Health, a healthcare consulting company, and McConnell/Edwards, a communications firm. ImagineHealth is currently serving two Healthcare IT start companies, one a scaled technology focused on metabolic health and the second an interactive leadership software platform.
He is an experienced board leader currently serving the boards of Great Southern Bank (NASDAQ:GSBC) Drury University, the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, Burrell Behavioral Center, City Utilities of Springfield.
