Individual Award Categories

Rising Star Award - New professional (less than three years of experience). Must be a SWMO PRSA member.

Intrepid Award - Senior practitioner (at least 10 years of experience). Must be a SWMO PRSA chapter member.

Legacy Award - Outstanding contributions by SWMO PRSA chapter member to the Board or committee.

Outstanding Faculty Award - PR faculty member from a college or university within the SWMO PRSA service area.


Organization Awards
Must have occurred or been created June 1, 2011-June 1, 2012 

Community Relations - Recognizes an organization’s programs that aim to improve relations with or seek to win the support/cooperation of, people or organizations in communities in which the sponsoring organization has an interest, need or opportunity.

Events and Observances - Showcases events or programs that fulfilled at least one of the organization’s public relations goals. This may include commemorations, observances, openings, celebrations or other special activities.

Integrated Communications - Awarded to a program that demonstrates leadership of public relations strategies and tactics in a creative and effective integrated campaign, along with other marketing or communications. The program must demonstrate the clear leadership of public relations, along with its integration with other disciplines.

Marketing/Public Relations Campaign - Given for outstanding campaigns – including programs, communications or publications – that seek to fulfill the organization’s marketing or public relations goals.

Booster Award - Given to a local vendor, service provider or other supporter of the public relations profession and practice in southwest Missouri.

Nomination Process

To nominate a colleague for any  individual award or the Booster Award, please send a narrative of 250 words or less supporting your nominee to nominations@swmoprsa.org. Include the nominee’s name, organization, contact information and title along with your narrative.

To submit an entry for an Organization Award, download the entry form and send form and supporting materials to nominations@swmoprsa.org or mail to SWMO PRSA PO Box 4807 Springfield, MO 65808. Please submit one form per entry and only one entry per category. Submissions will not be returned, so please make copies of any original work. Please be sure to include your nomination fee (see below) with your entry form.

All entries must be postmarked by September 4, 2012.

Fees: There is no cost to nominate an organization for the Booster Award or any Individual Award. The entry fee for all other categories is $50 per submission. If received by Aug. 20, our early bird deadline, each entry fee is $40. You will be asked to pay this fee through PayPal when you submit or by check. Please make check payable to: SWMO PRSA and mail to the address above.

Some award categories may not be awarded each year, depending on the quality of submissions. The awards will be distributed based solely upon merit. Immediate past recipients of the individual award categories will not be eligible in the following year.
